Iceland is an unique land of volcanos, mountains, fjords, waterfalls, glaciers and hot springs. Nearly half of the 270,000 Icelanders live in or around the capital, Reykjavik. Visitors are surprised to find that the climate is warmer than the name suggests, due to the influence of the Gulf Stream. The summers are rather cool and the winters relatively warm.
